Engineered for Strength:

Awesome Awnings Ltd. at their inception had the structural integrity of their awnings assessed and certified by a Registered Engineer. All Awesome Awnings are manufactured within the boundaries of these engineering specifications

 Structural Grade Steel:

As per our engineering calculations and specifications, Awesome Awnings Ltd. use structural grade C350 steel for superior strength, eliminating any excessive flexing of the frame, thereby ensuring no undue stress on the roofing material.

 Box Section:

In order to meet the structural requirements of the New Zealand Building Code, Awesome Awnings Ltd. use square or rectangular “Box Section” steel. “Box” section has a much higher lateral strength than that of circular tube, giving less flex in the structural members, whereas circular tube has very good torsion properties making it more difficult to twist, not an attribute that we need.

 Certified for Durability:

Awesome Awnings Ltd. at their inception had the procedural elements of their manufacturing processes analysed by a Registered Corrosion Consultant to ensure the long lasting durability of their awnings.

 Galvanizing:

In order to ensure that the frame will not deteriorate unduly, all structural members are mill galvanised (both inside and out). All fabricated brackets and fittings are “Hot Dipped” galvanized prior to the powder coating process.

 Powder Coating Process:

In New Zealand and Australia it is common practice to use a polyester powder directly over galvanizing, but because this type of powder is microscopically porous it is often not long before the galvanizing (zinc) underneath is corroding and showing up as white spots all over the work. To solve this problem, Awesome Awnings Ltd. apply an indepently tested and verified Powder Coating process to give a longer lasting, more durable finish.

Often powder coating over galvanizing can seem to have poor adhesion when compared with powder coating on steel and aluminium. This is always due to a lack of good preparation. Awesome Awnings Ltd. have always pre-treated the galvanizing to give the best adhesion possible with a chemical pre-treatment. Click here for further information on Powder Coating.

 Polycarbonate Sheet Roofing:

Polycarbonate Sheet Roofing is a product of the space age; an advanced plastic polymer with optical and physical properties that can’t be matched by other materials. It has high resistance to the weathering effects of UV rays and yellowing of sheets is minimised over their lifetime. Impact strength is up to 150 times that of tempered glass and normal hail won’t cause damage. The sheeting also blocks 99.9% of harmful UV rays so you can enjoy the sun without the sunburn, and the rain without getting wet. Click here for more technical information.
